Ambassador Ebrahim Rasool

Ambassador Rasool’s formative years under the South African apartheid system led him to student politics in the 1980s. His political activism resulted in imprisonment by the apartheid regime. He went on to become a close friend and colleague of Nelson Mandela. Ambassador Rasool held positions of senior political office in South Africa and became the South African ambassador to USA from 2010-2015, spearheading a response to anti-Muslim hatred and Islamophobia.

He is also the author of “Living Where We Don’t Make The Rules: A Guide for Muslim Minorities,” offering guidance and advice for Muslims living as minorities in non-Muslim-majority countries.

Dr Gabor Maté

Gabor Maté is a retired physician who, after 20 years of family practice and palliative care experience, worked for over a decade in Vancouver’s Downtown East Side with patients challenged by drug addiction and mental illness.

The bestselling author of five books published in 40 languages, including the award-winning In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts: Close Encounters with Addiction, Gabor is an internationally renowned speaker highly sought after for his expertise on addiction, trauma, childhood development, and the relationship of stress and illness.

For his groundbreaking medical work and writing he has been awarded the Order of Canada, his country’s highest civilian distinction, and the Civic Merit Award from his hometown, Vancouver. His latest book, The Myth of Normal: Trauma, Illness & Healing in a Toxic Culture remains a Canadian best seller and was a 19-week New York Times best seller.

Dr Musa Mohd Nordin

Dato Dr Musa Mohd Nordin is a renowned paediatrician and neonatologist at the KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital also lead several impact organisations.

In 2014, Dr Musa founded IMARET (IMAM Response & Relief Team), powered by the Islamic Medical Association of Malaysia (IMAM), providing humanitarian aid relief to any disaster and outreach programs to marginalised communities. Dr Musa also founded Rumah Solehah, a shelter for women and children living with HIV/AIDS and is an on-call paediatrician to OrphanCare, an NGO that set up Malaysia’s first baby hatch. In 2020, IMARET won the Star Golden Hearts Award.

He was also Honoured with the Outstanding Asian Paediatrician Award in 2012 by Asia Pacific Paediatric Association (APPA). Additionally, Dr Musa received the Lifetime Achievement award from the Federation of Islamic Medical Associations (FIMA) in Turkey. Currently, he remains IMARET’s advisor while actively involved in social work.

Professor Shafi Ahmed

Professor Shafi Ahmed is a 3x TEDx and an international keynote speaker and has delivered over 300 keynotes in 40 countries. He has been faculty at Harvard Medical School, Bart’s Medical School, Imperial College London, Queen Mary University, Bradford University, Bolton University, Stellenbosch and Singularity University where he has taught medicine, digital health, innovation, entrepreneurship and digital transformation.

He has been a consultant advisor for Merck, PwC, FDA, Google, Johnson and Johnson, Roche, 3M, Amgen, Biogen and Havas Lynx.

He has been an advisor to the Abu Dhabi Ministry of Health to help deliver innovation and digital Health.

He is one of the top 20 global influencers in digital health and innovation and was a HIMSS Future50 clinical leader in 2020

In 2018 he was awarded the Future NHS award for NHS70 by members of parliament. He will be delivering his talk online.
