Dr Yousuf H Ahmad

Conference Convener and Organiser

Dr. Yousuf H. Ahmad is an experienced General Practitioner and Rural Generalist with extensive expertise in medical education, governance, and health management. As the Vice President (Advocacy) of the Australian Islamic Medical Association (AIMA) and the Convener of the Melbourne Conference 2025, he is dedicated to advancing AIMA’s advocacy, leadership, and community health initiatives

Dr. Shiraz Mahkri

Marketing and Media Coordinator

Dr. Shiraz Mahkri is a GP in rural Victoria and serves as the Vice President for the Victorian state chapter of AIMA. He is playing a key role in shaping the national conference, which promises to be a spectacular event for Muslim health professionals. Leading the marketing and merchandise team, Dr. Mahkri is dedicated to delivering a high-quality experience for all delegates. From scouting the perfect location to organizing essential merchandise, he aims to create an enriching environment where Muslim health professionals can connect, learn, and grow together for the betterment of the wider community.

 

Dr Mohammed Awad

Sponsorship Coordinator

Mohammed Awad is a UK and Australian trained neurosurgeon and complex spinal surgeon practicing in Melbourne. He is a full member of the Royal college of Surgeons of England and The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and is a leader and global educator in surgeries on brain tumours, complex spinal (robotic) surgery, computer and ultrasound guided surgery and complex pain surgeries amongst many others. He sits on many boards and is heavily involved in Islamic events management and Islamic philanthropy.

 

Dr Mustafa Majeed Omar

Co-Convener

Dr Mustafa Majeed Omar (Mustafa) is a senior staff specialist in emergency medicine based in Newcastle NSW. He completed his training in emergency medicine in Newcastle. He has a keen interest in Leadership and Management. He is an AFRACMA and is completing an MBA in Healthcare management from Deakin University. His leadership roles in the past include, Director of Manning ED,  Deputy Director/Acting Director of Calvary Mater Newcastle ED and the Director of Medical Services at Manning Hospital.  He is an Assistant secretary with AIMA and also convenes the Newcastle chapter.

 

Kashif Salman

Coordinator AIMA Expo 2025

Kashif Salman is a highly accomplished Pharmaceutical Specialist with a distinguished portfolio in respiratory, cardiometabolic, and mental health. His proven success as a businessman, coupled with his influential role as a community leader, enables him to drive meaningful and lasting change in the healthcare industry. By integrating critical cross-cultural, societal, and economic values, Kashif is committed to bridging gaps in healthcare and overcoming barriers to a healthier future for all. As a dedicated member of the AIMA National Conference 2025 coordination committee, He is coordinating the AIMA Expo 2025 

Mueed Mian

Program Coordinator

Dr. Mueed Mian completed his medical degree at the University of Melbourne and trained in rheumatology and general medicine at Austin Hospital, Northern Hospital, and The Royal Melbourne Hospital. He is the co-founder and director of Epping Specialist Group and serves as the Director of Physician Education at the Central NorthWest Consortium at Northern Hospital. Dr. Mian is deeply committed to medical education and has previously been a tutor at the University of Melbourne medical school. Currently, he holds public appointments at Northern Hospital as a Consultant Rheumatologist and General Physician. Beyond clinical practice, he has also contributed as an advisor to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Dr. Mian is the Coordinator for the AIMA Conference 2025 program.

Dr Sameera Bhayat

Coordinator for Volunteers & CPD Accreditation

Dr. Sameera Bhayat is a highly experienced General Practitioner in Carlton North, with over 15 years of clinical practice. She has a special interest in Women’s and Children’s health, holding a Diploma of Child Health. As a dedicated medical educator, she trains GP registrars in the Metro West region of Victoria with the RACGP and is an examiner for the University of Melbourne and RACGP. Previously a clinical editor for HealthPathways in Western Sydney, she is also the RACGP CPD representative for AIMA and an executive member of AIMA’s Victorian branch. Passionate about education and holistic healthcare, Dr. Sameera continues to contribute to the medical community through her expertise and leadership.

Dr Malak Sukkar

Finance Coordinator

Malak is a seasoned healthcare executive with over 30 years of experience in strategic and operational management, business development, and marketing across public and private health sectors. She is the CEO & Managing Director of MediHealth Partners and has held key leadership roles at Northern Health, St Vincent’s Health Australia, and Healthe Care Australia. Malak holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from RMIT and has a background in Health and Nursing. She serves on multiple boards, including ACU’s Peter Faber Business School Advisory Council and South East Volunteers. She is also a member of the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Huda Elmi

Coordinator Muslim Health Professionals Awards

Huda is a pharmacist at a public hospital in Melbourne. She graduated with a Bachelor of Pharmacy in 2018 and furthered her education by completing a Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice. In addition to her clinical role, Huda volunteers with the Australian Islamic Medical Association (AIMA) as the co-secretary of the Victorian chapter. Passionate about research, Huda is dedicated to exploring ways to support culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Whether in the hospital setting or through her volunteer work, she is always seeking opportunities to improve the well-being of individuals from all backgrounds.

Dr Ambereen Farouqeue

Coordinator Research Expo

Dr. Farouque, a medical practitioner with a diverse clinical background and brings expertise in public health planning and research. With a Master’s in Public Health, she serves as a medical advisor for the health department, applying her clinical knowledge to regulatory and investigative work while contributing to health policy improvements.  .

Rubinah Ahmad

AIMA Office Manager

Rubinah Ahmad is the Office Manager at AIMA, where she manages administration, graphic design and event planning. Alongside her work at AIMA, She also volunteers for many non-profit organisations, including the Australian MEFF Consortium and the Australasian Muslim Times (AMUST). Her dedication to community work has been recognised with awards such as Muslim Volunteer of the Year (2024) and Not-for-Profit Technology Volunteer of the Year (2022).

Dr Sara Yusuf is a GP in Western Sydney with a special interest in women’s and reproductive medicine, and a focus on a holistic approach to patients’ health care journey. She is a GP training supervisor and is involved in health advocacy with the RACGP and the Western Sydney Primary Health Network.

Dr. Tabinda Bajwa is a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners and currently practices as a GP in Canberra. She has over three decades of experience as a medical doctor. Dr. Bajwa was one of the founding members of AIMA and has been actively involved in various community development projects nationally. For the past 10 years, she has also been helping single Muslims connect with like-minded individuals with the intention of marriage.

Dr Mourushi Isa is a General Medicine Advanced Trainee at Northern Health with an interest in Rheumatology. She is passionate about research, education and serving culturally diverse population. She is skilled in multiple languages and has a keen interest in community health advocacy.’

Muminah Gilani is a third-year medical student with a passion for healthcare, community service, and leadership. Beyond her medical studies, Muminah is eager to contribute to Melbourne’s Muslim community through her engagement in organizations that support and empower individuals. She believes in the importance of representation, advocacy, and creating spaces where people feel supported and heard.

Dr Jasmin Dabboucy A basic physician trainee at Austin Health and currently one of the vice presidents of AIMA Victoria. While having a keen interest in neurology and academia, is also passionate about community and social justice.

Dr Mohamed Elwakil Board-certified emergency physician and Fellow of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM), involved in ACEM SIMG assessment committee and the SA/NT trainee progression panel. Passionate about simulation-based education, with a focus on advancing medical training and clinical skills through innovative teaching methods.

 

Dr. Akib Mian is a General Dentist and Principal Dentist at South Morang Smiles, with 10 years of experience. A graduate of James Cook University, he has worked across various Australian cities and in mobile clinics, specializing in preventative care and improving access to dental services in underserved areas.

Amber Anees is the Vice President of the AIMA Victoria Student Executive Team and a final-year medical student at Monash University. Originally from Canada, she completed the majority of her secondary and post-secondary education there, earning a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and Pharmacology, followed by a Master of Science in Neuroscience, with a research focus on Multiple Sclerosis. Amber is passionate about child health and aspires to pursue a career in Pediatrics while continuing her involvement in clinical and translational research.

Mustafa Hamimi is a final year dentistry student at Griffith University, Gold Coast. He is also the AIMA Queensland assistant secretary and student lead.

Dr Noor Suhana Mohd Graduated with MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from The Adelaide University and obtained her Fellowship of Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2019. She is a GP Supervisor for RACGP and also holds the title of Associate Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Adelaide University.
